Step 1: Press the volume up or down button on the side of your iPad.
Step 2: When the volume slider appears, tap the Mute button to turn on silent mode.
Step 3: The volume slider will turn gray and the speaker icon will be crossed out, indicating that your iPad is in silent mode.
How to Put iPad on Silent
Step 1: Press the Volume Down button
The Volume Down button is located on the left side of the iPad, just above the Home button. Press the Volume Down button once to reduce the volume, or press and hold the button to mute the sound.
Step 2: Slide the Silent switch
The Silent switch is located on the top of the iPad, next to the power button. Slide the switch to the left to turn on Silent mode.
Step 3: Use Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb is a feature that silences all notifications, except for calls from your Favorites list. To turn on Do Not Disturb, open the Settings app and tap on Do Not Disturb.
